Create a safe and healthy environment. Improve health, social and cultural well-being for all residents, encouraging and providing opportunities for an active lifestyle, and ensuring high quality local facilities for existing and new residents.
Objectives
- Protect existing Green Spaces, wildlife corridors, community woodland, open spaces and private gardens whether used for active of passive recreation and create additional green spaces within new development areas.
- Provide usable, accessible and sustainable sport and recreation facilities to meet current and future demand according to specified need.
- Develop a network of traffic free open spaces across the town linking Red Moss in the south to Lever Park, Rivington and Anglezarke in the north.
- Develop measures to improve road safety and air quality, a greener environment and to combat anti-social behaviour.
